Mobile parking app for professionals

Mobile product · Usability research

Five professional drivers tried the complete parking journey. The overall score was positive; the session recordings showed exactly where the product still made them stop and guess.

Research approach

Before choosing a method, I ask what someone needs to decide with the result.

The plan changes with the work. A simulator study, an early concept and a literature review do not need the same process. I use the smallest mix of methods that can answer the question, then separate what I observed from what still needs checking.

A research trail

The line is rarely this tidy. A study often loops back when the prototype changes or an observation shows that the original question was not quite the right one.

    Pin down the decision

    I clarify who needs to decide what, what we can test and what the product or setting will let us do.

  2. 02Study

    Go where the behaviour is visible

    Sometimes that means interviews; sometimes a simulator, a prototype, observation, a survey or a workshop. I combine only what the question needs.

  3. 03Translate

    Show the awkward parts too

    I put successes, failures and uncertainties beside each other, then discuss which change or follow-up test is worth the effort.

About

I work where a neat product idea meets real use.

I have spent the last five years researching digital products, mobility services and newer technologies. I am usually brought in while the question is still broad: I turn it into a study, run it and show the team where the answer is solid — and where it is not.

That has taken me from mobile apps and virtual assistants to in-vehicle experiences, applied human factors and AI-assisted research. My background in Ergonomics is why I keep looking at the gap between what people say and what they do once a product is in front of them.
